The Poster Database
The Poster Database is a platform dedicated to movie posters and key art. While it primarily serves users looking for high-quality matching art for digital media servers, it has also grown into somewhat of a portfolio site for aspiring poster designers. I have been closely involved with the project since its inception in 2019.
Origin and Strategy
Before TPDb existed, I was already active in the media server poster community, so I understood the frustration of trying to find matching poster sets through scattered Reddit threads and disorganized Google Drive links. When the developer reached out with an early prototype (originally called Plexters), I was beyond excited to join the project.
I helped develop the original brand identity and provided feedback on the early web experience to ensure it met the needs of the community. This personal connection to the platform allowed me to design with a "user-first" perspective from day one.
Brand Evolution and Deliverables
About a year after the initial launch, I led a full brand refresh to help the platform scale. Most of the assets and guidelines from this update are still in use today. My work included:
- Logo Modernization: Updating the core identity for better digital performance and clarity.
- Social Media Systems: Creating templates for consistent community engagement.
- Marketing Assets: Designing various graphics to promote the site's growth and new features.
- UX/UI Feedback: Collaborating on the web interface to improve how users discover and upload art.
Current Involvement
The platform is currently undergoing a complete website refresh. I am closely involved in the alpha stage of this update, helping to steer the visual direction and user experience for the next generation of the site. While the public release date is not yet set, this ongoing work continues to refine how thousands of users interact with TPDb every month.
